Policy
The Institution Authority under which this institutional review
board (IRB)
is established and empowered is the University of Kansas. The
authorized institutional official for this IRB,
known as the Human Subjects Committee Lawrence (HSCL)
is the Vice Provost
for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Kansas,
Lawrence, Kansas.
Procedure
The University of Kansas has physically located the office of
the Human Subjects Committee Lawrence Campus (HSCL)
at the KU Center for Research, Inc. (KUCR), Youngberg Hall. HSCL employs
one full time Coordinator, one full-time Associate Coordinator,
and one half-time Assistant Coordinator. KUCR also provides a
one-half-time student to assist with HSCL clerical
duties. Each HSCL staff
member has a computer and access to a printer. The Assistant
Coordinator provides support services for the Coordinator and
Associate Coordinator. The Coordinator is a voting member of
the Human Subjects Committee. Both the Coordinator and Associate
Coordinator review applications. In cases where the Coordinator
cannot attend convened meetings, the Associate Coordinator serves
as an alternate for the Coordinator. Note that references to
duties of the Coordinator apply to the Associate Coordinator
as well.
