Conflict of Interest (COI)

Kansas Board of Regents policy requires faculty and unclassified staff of Regents institutions to file a conflict of interest report upon employment and at least annually thereafter. In addition, federal policies require assurances that all investigators on a research project are in compliance with institutional conflict of interest reporting procedures at the time a proposal is submitted.

• Web-facilitated COI reporting
  Annual and ad hoc reports can be initiated online and printed out for required supervisor signatures.  A confirmation of no changes can be completed online if the prior fully executed paper original is on file with Research integrity.  New employees filing for the first time must file a paper form (see below).
• COI forms and instructions for new employees and others who cannot file online
  These forms and instructions are the same as those included in new employee packets from Human Resources.  New employees are not eligible to use the web-facilitated COI reporting until a paper form has been submitted. Annual and ad hoc reports can also be completed on the forms above.

Please note: The KU Conflict of Interest reporting obligation is separate and distinct from the requirement to file a State of Kansas Statement of Substantial Interests (KS SSI) with the Kansas Secretary of State. More information about the KS SSI is available on the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission Web site.
