Animal care and use in research

Animal Care Unit

The Animal Care Unit overseas animal care and use on the KU Lawrence campus, including care of animals, regulation of use, occupational health, policies, training, and coordination of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).  Procedures and forms for use of animals in research are available on this site.

Animal use comparison form

The Grant comparison certification form is available for download from the ACU forms page

When animals are to be used in a sponsored research project, the form above must be completed and submitted to KUCR Sponsored Program Accounting before award funds can be spent. The purpose of the form is to identify the approved animal use protocols for the procedures described in the project, to identify whether any additional protocols are needed to accommodate changes in research plan, and to ensure that protocols are valid for the duration of the project.  The principal investigator is responsible for completing the form.
